I just wanted to pass on a quick video that I came across on Youtube. This is a quick and simple video "How To" guide for installing your TV wall mount and then attaching your flat panel TV to it properly. This is more of a general video and in the future I will probably try to find one that give more specific instructions.

If you are interested you can also check out the related video section that is showing below. Now that you have the basics about what features to consider I want to give you some details on the most popular styles of TV wall mounts. Each of these styles gives you a different viewing and angling options and each has its own advantages. Some have less options but are cheaper while others allow you to move your TV in almost any pattern but of course are more expensive. When choosing a mount I want to remind you that you must not forget about tips I gave you in my last post about getting a TV wall mount that works with your TV.

Types of TV Wall Mounts

Articulating – An articulating wall mount is one of the best LCD TV wall mounts on hand. With this mount you have the ability to move it to the left, right, up, down. You can also turn it at different angles so you can see it perfectly from that chair that is way over to side if that's where you want to sit. This TV wall mount is great for a downstairs sports bar where you could be playing pool and trying to watch TV at the same time.

Fixed – A fixed mount gives you the least amount of flexibility. It merely attaches your TV to the wall without the ability to change the angle. This type of mount is best for people who are on a stricter budget because it is usually the cheapest. If your TV is very large and there is really only one place for sitting and viewing it then I recommend this mount.

Tilt – A tilt mount is work great for a TV that is in a high position. If the placement of your TV is very high up then this is definitely the best because you can adjust the angle for optimal viewing. It is also good if you have furniture but sometimes like to sit on the floor, a situation where you could again adjust the angle for optimum viewing.

Swivel – Swivel mounts all you to move your TV from left to right in an arching pattern. This allows you to see the TV from the far left side or far right side from where it is mounted. After swivel mounts also allow your screen to pivot too.

Above I have listed the most popular types of TV wall mounts on the market right now. I cannot recommend any specific type though because placement and use determine which one is the best for each unique situation and that is something you will have to decided for yourself. I can however tell you that they are ordered fixed, tilt, swivel, and articulating. With fixed being the cheapest and articulating being the most expensive.

LED TVs: The Future Of Flat Panel Televisions

If you are have already decided that you are gonna get with the times and get a TV wall mount instead of a TV stand then good for you. I at least commend you for that. If you are one of the few brave ones that is willing to move forward and be a trend setter and get a TV lift cabinet then I give you major props. TV lift cabinets are a thing of the future but for you the future can be now when you get one of these beautiful pieces of furniture.

If you are neither of thee above then I recommend you stop reading now because this post will be of little interest to you. If you recently purchased a new LCD TV then this will probably not interest you either.

If you have been a trend setter in the past or want to be one then I suggest you keep reading. Today's post is about a brand new technological advance brought to us my Samsung, the world wide leader in television innovations.

LED televisions are what we are going to be talking about today (not to be confused with LCD TVs). LED TVs are the newest most technologically advanced televisions in the world right now.

You see, old TVs (and new ones before LED TVs) use tubes or bulbs to give off white light and then it is filtered into primary colors and remixed. LED TVs on the other hand have replaced these bulbs with lasers and light-emitting diodes. The end result of this new technology means that you and me get a a TV that comes with better colors (in scientific terms you would say that the palette of hues can be created in a wider range). Another result of this technology is that the laser and diodes come out of the sides of the TV thus allowing manufacturers to make a significantly thinner TV. And we are talking really thin, like the size of a laptop computer screen.
LED TVs are also significantly more energy efficient due to the difference in lighting technology. Another great thing about LED TVs is that they do not have to have their bulbs replaced (at a cost of $300) every 2-3 years.

If you want to get the latest and greatest technological advances in television I suggest you check out the new LED TVs from Samsung. Currently they are a bit expensive but the price should drop over the next 12-18 months and at that point it is believed that they will begin to be even cheaper and LCD and plasma screen TVs.

Be Sure You Get A TV Wall Mount That Works For Your Particular TV

If you have decided to get a TV wall mount then there are a few steps you can take in order to make sure that you get one that works best for you flat panel TV.

As I have said before, using a TV mount is a great choice instead of a TV stand because it can save you space. Besides saving space mounting your TV allows you to get the optimal viewing angles.

If you are to the point where you are ready to go out and make a purchase then there are a few things that I suggest you consider.

First you want to make sure that the wall mount you purchase is the right size. A lot of the mounts available today are universal to some extent but, for example, if you have a 56 inch flat panel television you want to be sure you don't get a universal 30-52 inch wall mount.

Another thing to think about is to be sure that you get a wall mount that comes with the proper hardware that is necessary to mount it to the type of wall you are planning to mount it to. It would be a shame to see you hand it only to have it fall and break you new TV in the process.

A third thing to consider is the weight of your new flat panel television and the strength of the wall mount you purchase. You need to be sure to purchase a mount that is made to hold the weight of your TV or again you could have the wall mount break with the result being a broken TV.

The fourth and final thing to consider is what type of attaching mechanism the mount you buy has. You want to be sure that you get a TV wall mount that comes with grooves as opposed to clamps. The clamp versions have been known to fail resulting in your TV falling to the ground.

The most important thing is buy a wall mount is to get one that you know can hold your TV up safely and securely so that you don't end up having to buy a new one. After you have established this then you can starting thinking about exactly which kind of wall mount you want.

Next time I post I will try to write about the 4-5 most popular wall mount styles. Once you have the information from this post and my next one you should be completely prepared to go out and make a purchase.

Digital TV Antennas Will Be A Must For Some After The Digital Transition

Recently I noticed reports that after the digital transition there will been many people that are not been able to get good television signals with the equipment that they already had. I knew that this was gonna be a big issue after the digital transition and it certainly has been in areas where the transition has already occurred.

There have been a countless number of individuals that not only had to get converter boxes but were also forced to purchase a digital antenna that was compatible with their converter box in order to keep some of their channels. This situation has been quite a hassle for some people since there had been a lack of supply. It has also been a financial burden for others.

As a result I have found a friend of mine that has begun making homemade antennas for the poor and elderly. This is especially important because these are the type of people that are most affected by the digital transition and also have the most limited funds for getting their TV fact.

If you are one of these poor or elderly or if you would be interested in donating to his cause then you should check out High Def Jeff's WowVision website. Here you can find all kinds of information that you need about HD TV and also find a link to his Myspace page where he provides pictures of his homemade antenna, which is known as the Grabbit Ears. The Grabbit Ears has been tested and has proven to work just as well as most expensive commercial antennas. If interestd you can also email Jeff.

TV Lift Cabinets: The Future Of TV Storage/Placement

In my last post I wrote all about the current TV wall mount fad that is going on. With the digital transition nearly upon us flat panel TV popularity and sales have gone through the roof and the result has been a need for TV stands or some other sort of device for placement of new TVs. This resulted in the current fad of TV wall mounts and I am here to tell you what will be next.

The next future of placing and storing your TV will be in TV lift cabinets. A TV lift cabinet is an ordinary looking cabinet that is equipped with and opening door on top and a motorized lift mechanism that takes your flat panel TV out of the cabinet when in use and stores it inside the cabinet when not in use, all with the push of a button.

Currently TV lift cabinet sales have not quite taken off because the prices for them are to high. They run in the $1,500-$2,000 range but, like everything in the electronics industry, they will eventually drop and then sales will begin to skyrocket.

Have you ever seen the show Rev Run? In this show you see a glimpse of what will even come after the TV lift cabinet. It will be a TV lift that stores your TV under your bed and at the click of a button pulls it out and display it at the foot of your bed for you. Now that's cool!!!

One of the biggest advantages I see in a lift cabinet is that you can hide your TV in the cabinet so you don't have to worry about thieves seeing your large, beautiful, expensive TV and having to worry about them breaking in to steal it.

If you have been considering purchasing a TV wall mount or TV stand my recommendation is that you stick with your old TV stand (if you can make it work) and wait for TV lifts to drop in price. One this happens you will be able to purchase of them and skip the whole TV wall mount fad. It will like skipping from a black and white TV straight to a HDTV in the blink of an eye.

If you like my blog check out my post about this TV electronics blog and let me know what you think by leaving a comment.

Flat Panel TV Wall Mounts: The New Fad

With the digital transition approaching soon the majority of people have chosen to take the government coupon and purchase a converter box for their analog television set. Despite the majority moving this way there has been a small group (percentage wise) that have chosen to simply upgrade to a new digital TV.

Within the group that has decided to upgrade their TV most have gone with a new high-tech flat panel LCD or plasma television. The recent surge in sales of flat panel televisions (which were already a fad of these times) has recently created a new fad that most are unaware of.

This new fad is the TV wall mount fad. With flat panel TV popularity growing the popularity in TV wall mounts has risen immensely. People have decided to go away from the traditional, or shall I say space hogging, TV stands and have instead turned their attention to TV mounts.

TV mount sales have increased sharply over the past year and industry experts expect this trend to continue. I feel that TV wall mounts are a great innovation and their benefits are great.
With a TV wall mount you can easily and quickly adjust the tilt of your TV in order to avoid glares that might be different at different times of the day. You can also turn your TV to face different directions (to some extent) in order to get the best angle based off of where you are sitting.

Also, I think I forgot to mention that it saves a ton of space over a traditional TV stand. I switch to a flat panel wall mount and it made my living room seem a ton bigger. All I did was remove a picture I had in the my living room and mount the TV right there. Having a TV wall mount also gave me the flexibility to place my TV wherever I wanted.

If you are interested in getting a TV wall mount they can be purchased for as little as $50 or as much as $200-$400. It just depends what kind you choose. The different types included fixed, tilt, canti-lever, and articulating wall mounts. Listed in order from the cheapest to the most expensive. Of course if you don't like the look of your TV (when you aren't watching it) you could always be at trend starter and purchase a motorized TV lift cabinet. These are TV stand type devices that automatically store your TV within the cabinet when they are not in use. They are rather expensive but in my opinion are the best damn things out there for TV placement.

If you like what you are reading check out my post about my TV electronics blog and leave me a comment to let me know what you think of it.

Samsung LN52A650 52-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV Review

Samsung LN52A650 LCD Television

If you are looking for a new flat panel LCD HDTV for your home then the Samsung LN52A650 would be a fine addition. It looks like Samsung takes the cake with 9 of the top 10. I agree that Samsung does manufacture awwww inspiring LCD and Plasma screen televisions but I must say I was shocked to see them taking up 9 out of the top 10. I expected it to be more like 4-5 out of the top ten. If you are looking for a new flat panel television for your home I can honestly say that you can't go wrong with any of these top 10 and would suggest that you go with a Samsung one. Just be sure that after you get one of these beautiful TVs you don't mess it all up by getting an ugly TV stand. Instead go for a beautifully handcrafted TV lift or a modern looking TV wall mount.

*Note: If you have been saving for an upgrade to one of these TVs for the digital transition then you have until June 12th now.

Current Top 10 list for the most popular TVs on Amazon:

1) Samsung LN52A650 52-Inch - Review of This Samsung LCD TV

2) Samsung LN46B650 46-Inch

3) Samsung LN40B550 40-Inch

4) Panasonic VIERA G10 Series 50-Inch

5) Samsung-LN40B650-40-Inch

6) Samsung-LN52A750-52-Inch

7) Samsung-PN42B450-42-Inch

8) Samsung-LN32B460-32-Inch

9) Samsung-LN32A450-32-Inch

10) Samsung-LN32B550-32-Inch

If you like this post check out my post about this blog and see what its all about.

TV Stands: A Thing Of The Past

If you have a flat panel television then you have three major choices for the placement of it. You can either get a a traditional TV stand, a new age TV wall mount, or you can get an upscale TV lift cabinet. TV stands use to be the most popular thing under the sun but with the innovations that we have seen with flat panel TVs they are now becoming a thing of the past.

Why in the world would anyone get a big bulky TV stand when they could either hide their TV in a lift cabinet or mount it to a wall and save tons of space???

I honestly don't even understand why there are still TV stands for sale. I guess there are some strange people in this world that won't move forward with innovation. So there still needs to be TV stands around because some people still have big box TVs.

What I don't understand is why there are silly people that have flat panel TVs and a TV stand. Seriously its a complete waste of space and honestly it looks pretty crappy to have your TV out all the time as opposed to stored in a TV lift cabinet. Why would you want to by a beautiful TV like the Samsung LN52A650 and then place it on an ugly stand?

On a quick side note, check out my post about the digital transition being delayed or my about this blog page if you find it interesting.

Digital Transition Delayed

Hey everybody! I just wanted to pass on the news that the digital transition has been delayed until June 12th, 2009. The original date for the transition was February 14th, 2009 but the government, after much debate and arguing, decided that it was best to delay it.

I for one have mixed feelings about it. The reason for the delay was to give more people a chance to prepare for the transition which I think is a good idea but regardless there will be millions that were procrastinating til February 14th that will now just wait until June 12th to do anything. People have the choice of getting a TV converter box or a digital television. If you are interested in a digital television check out the top 10 TVs from Amazon and our review of the top Samsung TV.

On the other hand it is a good idea because it gives the NTIA more time to sort out the problems they are having with the coupon program and get people they coupons they need in order to get their converter box at a discounted price.

If you still need a couple I suggest you apply for it here and that you hurry because funds are limited and dwindling.

If you find my blog interesting check out my post about the goal of my TV electronics 101 blog.

Hello And Welcome To My TV Electronics Blog

Hello everybody and welcome to my new blog! I know there I am writing to nobody at this point but I figured I needed to do an intro post to get this blog started. At my blog I plan to write about all kinds of TV related electronics. I will touch on TV accessories, TV stands, TV lifts, TV antennas, TV wall mounts, and oh course TVs. I may even do some TV reviews in the future on the top 10 TVs at Amazon.

This is just a small sample of what I will be writing about. In the future I may even touch on some things such as computers and cell phones. I am really an all around tech geek and love to write and discuss any electronics. Lately I have been enjoying the wonderful world of televisions, especially with the digital transition approaching quickly.

If you have any questions at all or would like me to write a post about anything specific please feel free to leave a comment and I will try to get your question answered. Feel free to leave a comment to say hi and let me know you stopped by. Its nice to know sometimes that other people besides me are actually reading my blog.

-Jimmy Dean
